INSIDE THE MWF

Note: the following is a column of thoughts, opinions and observations. It's written with a deep passion for the professional wrestling industry as a whole, for the fans of wrestling and the athletes driven to live their dreams. Whether you agree or disagree with these words, remember that there's a voice that cares behind it, one that only wants to see every hard working wrestler and promoter succeed, and for every fan to leave a live event feeling they got value for their dollar, wanting to see live wrestling (both independent and major league) again and again. For that, I do not apologize.

The Florida like summer continues here in Boston. . .have you had enough of the humidity yet?? Give me the spring. . .give me the fall. . .keep your summer and winter. . .I just began taking "baby steps" (i.e. short walks) after my feet blew out and turned purple in March, and they've become VERY short over the past couple weeks. . .
Our July mini-vacation of having Sunday's "off" from the tv studio only turned into different forms of work. There are times I groan thinking about having to give up another night of my life spending hours producing videos, but then when it's gone, I wish it was there. I don't think there's another human being on the planet I can laugh with to the point of tears about absolutely nothing of importance like I can with Pat Doyle (our Kevin Dunn). . .August 1st we'll be back on track. One Sunday a month off would be nice. . .the one sandwiched in between the Boston Garden bound UFC and Raw would be great next month. . .
MWF Heavyweight Champion "Slyck" Wagner Brown of JBL's Uprising is going to be the focus of the August MWF Superstar Zone, the first superstar to have the half hour program featured on some of his biggest matches in the MWF. Fitting since he competed and was victorious in the first MWF match in company history. The August MWF ULTRA and MWF Xtra: The John Cena Sr. Show should be available online this Sunday, August 1st, as it's going to be a big night of news, notes and videos. . .
I had a chance to speak to the veteran John Layfield, enjoying his personal travel around the world, playing golf in Bermuda as we speak. Nice retirement. President Cena has accused me of being JBL's "boy," which isn't the truth - as noted, there are things he's done in and out of the ring I don't agree with. On a personal basis, I have a great deal of respect for him on many levels and he has become a good friend over the past two and a half years. I don't like a lot of what the Uprising does in the MWF. As the movie I saw with one of my favorite people back in January says, "It's Complicated."
In discussions with what would be another solid addition to the BIG BANG BIRTHDAY BASH September 18th that will really enhance the event. More news to come on that in the near future. . .
Have you seen the "main event" of all raffle items - the John Cena autographed WWE WrestleMania 26 plaque that includes a piece of the actual ring on it?? Be there live September 18th, get your raffle tickets and you can own an item limited to 500 pieces. . .the picture we have online doesn't do it justice in person. . .
Working on another wrestling-related business venture for the BBBB that is outside the box. . .this one is pretty much signed, sealed and delivered, look for an announcement later in the week. . .
Have you checked out the BBBB Auctions page?? A lot of great WWE autographed photos will be auctioned off, starting at just $5, including some as a package deal. Another perk of being part of our 9th anniversary celebration. . .
In one of my "many" moments of deep thought, came up with idea to make the Boogeyman Studio Shoot Interview DVD taping September 19th along with future shoot tapings an even better experience for the fans. Discussions will take place to see if it's feasible, and if so, I think the fans will love it. . .
Had a chance to watch the entire Iron Sheik Studio Shoot Interview IV DVD - which will be available August 2nd - and it is hilarious and very interesting at the same time. Sheik goes wild on a variety of targets and opens up about a few subjects he's never gone into during past shoots. The bonus footage from his hotel room in Vegas is worth the price of the DVD itself, as Sheik Baby is in rare form all "medicine'd" up. . .I have yet to see the Matt Borne Shoot DVD in unedited format as time hasn't been on my side over the past month. . .
I'm interested to see what bombshells President Cena will have for us this weekend. He's not happy with "Stalker" Dylan Kage's threat to destroy the Fabulous Women of Wrestling division. "East Coast Cowboy" DJ Dubay has called Mr. Cena out, and he's not a fan of that by any stretch of the means. His family is running a great fundraiser to help the family of a volunteer firefighter that passed away on August 14th in West Newbury, MA. I know he's actively working on signing some big time matches for the BBBB as well. Things are heating up. . .
VIP Packages for the BBBB are moving quick - if you want to sit front row, we encourage you to purchase in advance in the near future. Front row tickets have sold out at all of our major events going back to NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS in June 2008 and this should be no exception. If you look at the value of what you get, how can you say no?? Promotional efforts with our television advertising campaign, our street team working the Raw in Boston, our booth at the Victorian Fair in Melrose, etc. haven't even begun yet, so take advantage of the offer before you miss out!
Best,
Slow it down" - Eddie Sharkey, Las Vegas, June 9th, 2006
"It's sad what's become of our business. . .when we started, we had to earn the right to be in the ring" -- Tito Santana, being interviewed by Les Thatcher January 15th, 2008
