SD: The Undertaker Returns Before Viewers Depart
Friday, September 28th, 2007
Show opens with Vince and Vicki. . .she's named new GM after Teddy suffered a major heart attack at the wedding last week. Vince bumps into Finlay and says he's been having problems with Hornswoggle. . .
Show opens with Torrie Wilson. . .click. Her opponent is Victoria. . .this must be the 493rd time these two have wrestled on television. Victoria's working in a tank top this week. . .she had a t-shirt on last time I saw her, she must be getting "well." Not too bad when Victoria was on offense. Victoria got the pin holding onto the ropes in the corner after Torrie went for a sunset flip. Some Torrie look alike was standing behind her in the ring dressed for Christmas and attacked Torrie. Talk about nobody cares, there had to be some sound sweetening going on. This unnamed woman walked to the back after pounding Torrie. What a pointless way to open the show. . .
Another cool Undertaker promo video for his return to Smackdown tonight.
MVP comes out for The VIP Lounge. . .a half dozen or so pigs dancing around to his theme song. Looks like a place The Jackal would hang out at. MVP talks about his one year anniversary on Smackdown. Matt Hardy shows up and shows everyone a highlight video of MVP looking like an idiot. He tells MVP it's a rib. . .they later toast, and Hardy tells him he's booked a match against his old friend Kane. . .
Chuck Palumbo vs Kenny Dykstra. ..I'm trying to block out Michael Cole to see if he makes the matches anymore boring then they actually are. Palumbo goes over in another match not worth watching. . .40 minutes into the show and nothing has taken place of any interest or would want to make me buy the PPV. . .
Jesse and Festus talk about their debut next week, well, Jesse does. I wonder if Festus will last longer than the fake Kane from last year. . .
Cole and JBL talk about the big Batista-Khali Punjabi Prison Match at No Mercy. . .they interview Batista in the back about this huge challenge. . .
Kane vs MVP. . .long match up. . .MVP kicked Kane low and got DQ'd. . .
More diva bullshit that no one cares about or wants to see. . .this week it's a limbo contest. . .please. . .
JBL interviewed Rey Mysterio in the ring. Rey wanted to know why JBL hated so much hatred towards him, he wanted to know if it's because he retired him. JBL got pissed and said it was, he's sick of sitting there talking about people that had half the talent he did. Rey said he should put up or shut up. JBL said he needs to worry about Khali and pushed him across the ring. Rey made a comeback and wound up giving him the 619 and a few of his other moves before Finlay ran in and laid Rey out. JBL and Rey was the visual of Kamala and Gino Marktino a couple of years ago. . .
Vicki strips Hornswoggle of the cruiserweight title. As much drama as when Shawn Michaels forfeited the championship in February 1997. Next up is Jamie Noble and Shannon Moore. Shannon has been teasing Noble because of his issues with Hornswoggle. What a back story. Big victory for Noble as he climbs the ladder of success in sports entertainment. . .
Another Khali promo with the nameless manager. . .they could replay the same one every week and no one would know the difference. . .
They rundown the line-up for No Mercy in eight days. . .the announce a grand total of three matches. . .ughhhh. . .
Undertaker vs Mark Henry. . .you know it's going to be a good one when Michael Cole fake screams "The Undertaker is the best striker in the history of sports entertainment!" JBL says he was in the ring with Ted Arcidi, so he knows strong men. There wasn't much to this one but at least it was quick. Undertaker's in real good shape for this comeback. Chokeslam, 1-2-3. It's not WrestleMania, so no tombstone. As good as can be expected. The fans were happy to see Undertaker back on television. . .
All I can say is that WWE needs to sign about 40 guys that have had any major league experience, send them to developmental for a month to get rid of ring rust and see if they can do anything with them. Their TV shows have been so boring and so repetitive lately it's ridiculous. They can have all the drafts they want, the real problem is they don't have nearly enough talent to keep their rosters, tv shows and ppv's fresh.
