ECW:  9/18/2007

After watching the Red Sox blow a lead in the bottom of the 8th to Toronto, let's see if I'm in the mood for ECW. . .

Elijah Burke opens the show wanting another crack at CM Punk's championship.  Kevin Thorn makes his way to the ring for the first time in a long time not facing Stevie Richards.  There's some bad blood between former members of the New Breed.  As they bicker, Tommy Dreamer makes his way to the ring, sporting a new bandana.  I guess WWE wants to upgrade his look.  Dreamer says he's done something that no one else in the ring has done. . .win the ECW Championship.  He says he's an ECW original (he does not mention that he's a CWA original).  With that, Stevie Richards heads to the ring.  He feels he deserves the title shot.  Armando walks out of the entrance way, he says none of them are qualified.  Over the next three weeks all of them are going to take part in the "elimination chase to No Mercy."  It all begins with a four way tonight.  The chase begins RIGHT NOW!!!  Don't change that channel, please!

The four way was, ah. . .very long.  Other than Burke, it seemed like the other three were just lifeless.  The fans were indifferent.  Kevin Thorn uses one of Abyss' finishers (have you noticed so many of TNA's finishers on WWE TV lately?).  Interesting finish where Burke pinned Richards with Thorn holding him down.  I guess this means that Thorn and Dreamer are both alive in the chase.  I don't know why they didn't save this for November sweeps. . .does this mean no Richards vs Thorn next week??

Another ad for the internet diva search.  There are a couple of lookers in the pack.  I wonder how many of them will get signed and last for a week and a half. . .

Burke stops Punk in the back, Punk wishes him luck, which last week he said was for losers.  I guess he's being pushed as the cool face that has the ha ha lines. . .

Miz joins his rats for Extreme Expose. . .Kelly Kelly has her teddy bear wearing a Balls Mahoney t-shirt.  It appears that Leyla re-signed with WWE after winning the diva search last year.  My educated guess it that she took a giant cut from the $250,000 she pulled in for doing absolutely nothing, not selling one ticket or PPV. . .

Miz and the girls sit at ringside for what I believe is a rematch between Balls Mahoney and Mike Knox from last week.  If I recall, it sucked last week.  It did not fail to repeat.  Balls comes away with the big win and asks Kelly for a date over the mic.  Miz and the rats chuckle.  They all walk off and Balls says he'll take that as a yes. . .what drama. . .

Another highlight package airs for the Boogeyman vs Big Daddy V main event. . .this one could make Batista-Khali look like Savage-Steamboat. . .

It's 10:56PM as Big Daddy V makes his way to the ring. . .hopefully they'll go off the air at 11PM.  I'm shocked, this wasn't anywhere near as bad as I expected it to be.  Boogeyman got almost no offense and the Daddy looked strong in going over.  He reminded me of a black King Kong Bundy. . .I'm going to suggest to WWE that he goes with the five count. . .
