TNA: Solid Impact, Stupid "Writing"
Thursday, August 30th, 2007
Wow, another nameless, faceless blonde that no one cares about nor wants to see doing interviews. . .ugh. . .
Dr. Nash with the Angles. . .looks like the end of his association with Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley. . .I liked that dynamic and it gave two X Division guys some rub. . .
Talk about losing rub, Sabin and Shelley become background fodder when Scott Steiner attacks Team 3D. I forgot how good the Dudleys are as heels. Either way, they'll be over until the end of time. Effective angle in getting them over stronger as heels. . .surprised to see Steiner take the bump through the table from the middle rope and liked the chair spot. . impressive. . .
Sabin and Shelley issue an open challenge and the Voodoo Kin Mafia is ready to go with their theme music ready and all. Roxxi Leaveau looks like she's going to have about as much shelf life as Sirelda last year. What on earth was Kip James wearing?? That outfit needs to go abra-cadabra. Pretty good match considering it went about a minute and a half. Don't like the burial of Sabin and Shelley. VKM issues an open challenge, out comes LAX. You want to talk about over, you should have heard the reactions to LAX on the New England house shows TNA ran in June along with the amount of LAX t-shirts in the crowd. Triple X comes out. . .and Eric Young and Shark Boy??? Another "wild brawl" that isn't sold or pushed again. . .
Karen Angle segment #2. Karen walks into Joe's locker room and wants to know how long the feud with the three of them is going to go on for. Considering Karen's been on TV for about a month, not all that long. Joe was effective in his role. . .
Karen Angle segment #3. Christian tells her to take a hike. AJ asks him to listen to her but he's not falling for it. At least they're not castrating anyone with the booking so far. Well, until the "dufus" AJ Styles starts to speak. How do you take one of the best wrestlers and athletes in the world and book him like a moron?? How is that supposed to draw?? Do you want to spend money on an idiot AJ Styles or the one that carried TNA in it's early years and some of the best matches of the decade?? Maybe it's just me. . .but come on!
I like the segments with James Storm looking for Rhino at bars. . .it's different and better than having it at the venue. . .
Now it's time for a four way with perhaps the worst stipulation in wrestling history. . .the winner becomes one half of the tag team champions for no reason whatsoever. Ugh. I like the Samoan dancers for Joe, it makes him come across as something special during his entrance. Karen Segment #4 trying to convince Sting to join Angle. PLEASE. No one is going to pay money for anything related to this nonsense.
Bell rings as they come back from the commercial at 9:36PM. If they give them time, this could be good even with the stupid stip. And it was damn good. Sting is now one half of the tag team champs even though he's never teamed with Kurt Angle. If that's going to be the main event at Bound For Glory, I'm all for this even though I can't stress enough that I hate just "giving" someone a belt.
Pacman and Killings get the heat as the show winds down. . .I like the pairing but have no idea why they'd do the "mystery" angle with Pacman at the PPV. If you're Pacman Jones, wouldn't you be interested in finding out who was responsible for the attack?? If he doesn't care, why should the fans that paid $30 to see it??
Not a bad show. . .if they could make Angle a more serious threat, eliminate some of the nonsense and make the booking a little more logical, TNA could really heat up again. They sure have the talent to do some great things that wrestling fans will support. . .
